Chicken Inn made it easy to overcome the Bulawayo giants, scoring a goal in the 89th minute with no reply yesterday at Barbourfields Stadium.
The lose made Bosso remain on the fifth spot with 18 points on the log while Chicken Inn just got one rung up the ladder to the seventh spot with 15 points.
The game was a must win for the Bulawayo giants, and nothing less than a victory would have been enough as they fought up to keep up with the glory in the race.
The match was truly a game of two halves as Bosso started off strongly in the first half but failed to convert any of the chances they created before the Game Cocks capitalized and put away a goal.
In the 38th minute, Simon Munawa missed with a header after he was set up by Prince Dube.
Again the 67th minute Rodreck Mutuma made a spirited run towards Chicken Inn’s goal going close to scoring but his effort was beat by Elvis Chipezeze.
A minute before final time, Moses Jackson with a flashing header from Innocent Mucheneka’s corner kick and scored a goal that awarded Chicken Inn a win over Bulawayo giants.
Ralph Matema shared his thoughts on the match against Chicken Inn, stating his dissatisfaction with the outcome of the game, but also hinted they have plenty of positives to gain from the experience.
“I think as a team we played very well especially on the first half and we created chances, but like football goes, if you don’t score from the chances you create and the other team takes the chance, you lose the game. In life we always get a second chance to rectify your mistakes and build on what you started with us losing against Chicken Inn, we can also go back and see what we did wrong and correct it on training so we will be better prepared for our next date against F.C Platinum,” commented Ralph Matema in an interview after yesterday’s game.
The coach contacted for comment over the game, blamed his troops for lack of concentration and failing to score goals but was not worried much about the loss.
“We played good football and created many chances, but we could not score and if you don’t score, you don’t win matches. It is just the second defeat and we still have a lot of games to play. We lost because of lack of concentration in the last minute. We waited for them to make mistakes which never happened, but we created many scoring chances. I cannot complain about the performance of the team, we played very good football” he said
Meanwhile the team is travelling tomorrow to Zvishabane for a Sunday date against F.C Platinum.
